Champagne Moutard Cuvée Vieilles Vignes Arbane 2014
Tasting Notes
Delicate ribbon of bubbles reveals a classy Champagne. An elegant nose which develops to notes of brioche and orchard fruits (peach, quince or cox apples). Good, delicate yet firm on the palate, with notes of white peach. Serve at 12c. This is the only Vieilles Vignes Champagne made with Arbane! Limited Production, only produces 1,200 bottles per year |
Additional Info
This is an extremely rare grape: Moutard planted 10 acres of the Arbane grape in 1952 and now only two hectares of the varietal can be found in Champagne. Arbane, cultivated around Bar-sur-Seine, has nearly disappeared from the Champagne vineyards. Thankfully, François Moutard worked to preserve this rare variety which descends from his father’s vines. |
