Sparkling Chardonnay Pinot Noir, An Occasion Piece

If you’re a fan of sparkling wine (and who isn’t?), we highly recommend this Sparkling Chardonnay Pinot Noir from premium Australian producers McPherson. This is Australia’s answer to Champagne (only more relaxed, in traditional Aussie style).

Grown in South Eastern Victoria, on the McPherson family vineyard, this is an example of a very versatile sparkling.

This wine is part of the Family Series range, in which each wine is named after a member of the McPherson family who established the vineyard in 1968 and still manage it today. This particular fizz is emblazoned with Alexandra McPherson, granddaughter of founder Jock McPherson. According to the label: “The life of the party, Alexandra loves an occasion, any occasion“, a sentiment which perfectly sums up this wine.

A versatile all rounder, this wine is equally at home as an aperitif, for a toast, or with seafood and Thai flavours. It is also superb with fresh fruit and dessert at the end of a meal.

About the Grape

This wine is made from 90% Chardonnay and 10% Pinot Noir. The winemaking team pick the grapes at night when temperatures are cooler to retain the freshness of the fruit. These are then separated into select parcels, each treated slightly differently, which provide the perfect breadth of styles to blend the final result. Light and fruity aromas mix with those of creamed fresh berries, with a dry complexity on the palate.
