Junior Software Developer:
The Lanchester Group (hybrid remote in Gateshead)
We are looking for a Junior Developer to join our Digital Team, which consists of designers, marketers, and software engineers who manage various businesses within the group.
As a Junior Developer, you will:
- Collaborate with team members to drive the digital transformation of our traditional family-run business into an enterprise that embraces automation and is on a path to continued growth
- Assist with the development and maintenance of our internal software projects, ensuring our e-commerce solutions process orders correctly and efficiently
- Support and extend our range of PowerBI reports by gathering requirements from business leaders and creating visuals and reports to leverage data-driven insights for better decision-making
- Research, learn and adopt low-code and no-code technologies to rapidly prototype solutions and automate business processes
What will you be doing?
- Developing automations, apps and reports using Microsoft Power Platform
- Supporting legacy applications in ColdFusion and Rails
- Developing new applications in JavaScript/TypeScript with Node.js and Svelte
- Contributing to development meetings, including sprint planning and retrospectives
- Working with stakeholders to gather requirements
- Contributing to project documentation
What do we need from you?
- An undergraduate degree in a relevant subject area or equivalent commercial experience
- Understanding of relational databases and SQL
- Understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) concepts
- Knowledge of HTML, CSS and JavaScript
- A self-starter attitude. You won’t be micro-managed but will be expected to work hard and drive our future growth
- Enthusiasm for exploring new technologies and presenting your findings to the team
- Willingness to get involved in different areas of the digital business
What would be nice to have?
- Knowledge of how to structure a web app using MVC
- Experience consuming REST APIs
- Demonstrated experience in development with Java, C#, or other typed languages
- Understanding of software design patterns and Domain-Driven Design

Warehouse Operative

As a Warehouse Operative, you’ll handle everything from accepting and inspecting inventory to marking and labelling stock. You’ll work with barcode scanners, manage inventory and maintain the cleanliness and safety of our work environment. Responsibilities:
- Order picking
- Loading and unloading delivery vehicles
- Accepting delivery of inventory
- Counting and confirming inventory
- Inspecting inventory for damage and faults
- Communicating errors to relevant parties
- Marking and labelling stock
- Storing inventory in an accessible manner
- Loading and wrapping stock on pallets
- Working with barcode scanners to book stock in and out
- Ensuring cleanliness, tidiness and safety of the work environment
- Candidates that have had a previous counterbalance FLT licence that may have recently lapsed are invited to apply. Training will be provided if successful.
Shift Pattern: Full-time, Permanent, various shifts available. Some overtime available
Salary: Dependent on shift
